Illegal Methamphetamine Laboratory Cleanup Testing Requirements
The following tests are recommended when providing remediation and/or clearance for former ‘meth' laboratories. These analyses can apply to air, soil, water, and drum waste samples.
Acid and Base Components ‘pH' Sulfate, Chloride, by IC Ammonia Compounds (N-NH3, organic-N, and Total by TKN) Antifreeze Components Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol by GC/FID Hydrocarbon Scan Gasoline Range Organics by GC/FID Diesel Range Organics by GC/FID Volatile Organic Scan Volatiles by GC/MS with a library search Metals Scan TAL metals by ICP (plus P) Cyanide Cyanide by wet chemistry
Full Particle ID Identify presence of ‘meth' crystals in carpet, on wallboards, or in the air. May require FTIR microscope or HPLC analysis.
Please note that any soil, containerized materials such as solvents, and water samples may require testing under RCRA for proper disposal. These requirements may depend on your State's regulations and the disposal facility's analytical requirements.
