Two common forms of Electron Microscope are the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The differences are that the SEM shows a topographical, pseudo-three dimensional image. The TEM displays a silouette image.

Here is chrysotile asbestos viewed in the TEM at 20.000x magnification. This tool is capable revealing the "tubular" morphology of chrysotile.

The SEM is excellent for identifying chrysotile in this floor tile.
